My Story
Dr. Corry Jeb Kucik is a board-certified anesthesiologist, critical care physician, and undersea/hyperbaric medicine specialist with nearly three decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience spanning military medicine, trauma systems, patient safety, and global health. He currently serves as Chief Science Officer of Anamed, Inc. and Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine as well as practices as a staff anesthesiologist and critical care physician at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
A Distinguished Graduate of the United States Naval Academy and graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Dr. Kucik completed residency in anesthesiology (serving as Chief Resident) at the National Capital Consortium, followed by fellowships in critical care medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and regional anesthesiology & acute pain management at the University of Southern California. He holds additional credentials including the Diploma in Medicine in Conflict and Catastrophe (DMCC) and an M.A. in International Relations/Middle Eastern Affairs, with ongoing graduate work in Global Health Policy.
Throughout a distinguished U.S. Navy career, Dr. Kucik held progressive leadership roles culminating as Anesthesiology Specialty Leader (2021–2024), where he oversaw more than 180 Navy anesthesiologists worldwide, guided residencies and fellowships, and advanced clinical readiness, scope-of-practice standards, and quality/safety initiatives across the Defense Health Agency. He previously served as Force Surgeon for Marine Forces Reserve/Marine Forces South, Chief Medical Officer at U.S. Naval Station Guantánamo Bay (a congressionally created oversight position), ICU Director and Chief Medical Officer at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, and Senior Intensivist at the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, Afghanistan. His operational experience includes aviation medicine, special operations support, disaster response, and humanitarian missions.
Dr. Kucik is a recognized authority in trauma and disaster anesthesia, patient safety and quality (Certified Joint Commission Professional and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality), and high-reliability healthcare systems. He is an American Board of Anesthesiology Oral Examiner, President of the Uniformed Services Society of Anesthesiologists, and faculty/examiner for the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London’s DMCC program. He has contributed extensively to textbooks, peer-reviewed literature, and national guidelines on trauma resuscitation, airway management, disaster preparedness, and quality improvement, and maintains active involvement with NATO medical evaluation and science & technology initiatives.
His combination of frontline clinical expertise in high-acuity and austere environments, deep knowledge of patient safety systems, and leadership in operational readiness positions him to provide valuable insight into the real-world performance, safety, and integration of medical devices used in critical care, trauma, perioperative, and emergency settings.
